I have been spending the last several months going from farm to farm looking for
good breeding stock and just meeting some great people.
The one thing I always ask is do you have a website?
Some of the time it is yes but alot of the time I am finding that people are
skeptical or even afraid to begin the process to go online so I figured I would put a relatively inexpensive step
by step way to get online.
Heres some
FAQ's
What do I need to do?
The first thing you need to do is decide what you want your name of your farm to
be. If you already have that decided than you need to go online (I find Godaddy.com the easiest) Once you have
arrived at the website they have a domain search. Click on the box of the domain search and type in your farm name
or what you would want your website address to be. (ex. qualityboers.com) Once you have settled on the domain you
want write it down and we will go to step two!
The second thing in order to be online is to have a hosting account. A hosting
account is what you will publish your website to in order for it to be seen on the internet by other people. I
personally recommend Ipage.com. They offer everything you would ever need and more. They also give you a free
domain compared to say godaddy.com or others. I have posted a link to them below. Click through the link and follow
the simple directions and you have completed step two! This part can be as low as $3.50 a month. (Initially you
will probably pay for 12-24 months) Keep that in mind when your figuring your intial costs.

The third thing that you are needing to decide on is what kind of software you
want to use to design your website. There is several on the market and some are incredibly hard to learn
while the others that may be really easy they may not put out the image that you are wanting to portray. Keep
in mind that this is going to be your connection to several buyers and you don't want their first impression to be
"Wow their look is cheap!" Remember even tho we aren't supposed to it is human nature to judge by appearance.
I have looked at several different aspects and programs and I settled on XSite PRo2. It was in the price
range I was looking for. As well as being simple enough for my initial learning it also allows you to bring
html coding to the table if you are wanting to learn or enhance your site. The program runs on special $200.00 and
it can be downloaded directly from the website. I have posted a link for you to be able to check it
out. It is very simple but it can give you some great results.
Once you have made the decision that this is the way you want to go it's
just a matter of taking pictures and getting the info on your site that you want. Some times buidling your
own site isn't the answer. If you are not computer adept or just have the time or the energy. In that
case don't go with people wanting to charge you hundreds of dollars for a website. We are more than willing
to get you a website up and running for minimal cost.
